I have been struck down with the flu, so today's post is really short.

If you ever hear anyone say "スタバ行こう?” what they are really saying is "dear me, would you fancy a jaunt to the nearest Starbucks?"

That is how lazy Japanese speakers can be at times. Starbucks is shortened to スタバ.

Your last comment is made in jest, I'm sure. But given how awkward foreign words become in katakana, I wouldn't call it laziness. I think most people where I come from (Canada) would coin a nickname rather than having to use a seven-syllable foreign word all the time. Heck, we even use abbreviations for McDonald's and Tim Horton's.
